Hundreds of women and youths in Jigawa State have benefited from a grassroots empowerment programme facilitated by Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The programme, held in Hadejia, focused on providing financial aid, business tools, agricultural inputs, and educational support to beneficiaries. This initiative aims to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty at the community level.

The empowerment programme is a recurring intervention that targets women, youths, farmers, students, and small-scale entrepreneurs who require assistance to boost their financial stability. Previous rounds of the initiative in other parts of Jigawa included the distribution of sewing machines, bakery equipment, farming tools, fertiliser, seedlings, and cash support for small businesses and farmers. Students have also received scholarships and educational materials.

The programme's coordinator, Alhaji Naziru Inuwa, explained that the local-centric scheme is geared toward supporting ordinary people in Jigawa State. He emphasized that the initiative is a sustained, structured intervention that brings government closer to the people and converts policy into tangible relief. Naziru said the programme aligns with the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Members of the Tinubu Must Stay (TMS) movement, who volunteered during the Hadejia distribution, commended the initiative and urged beneficiaries to use the grants and materials responsibly. The National Convener of TMS, Engr. Ibrahim Uba, described the empowerment scheme as an example of grassroots intervention that complements broader government economic policies.

Engr. Uba praised the NITDA DG, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, for translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into real deliverables. He noted that the initiative demonstrates the commitment of dedicated leaders to improving the lives of ordinary people. The TMS movement has been actively involved in supporting the agenda, and this empowerment programme is seen as a key example of its implementation.

Mr. Inuwa has been lauded for his efforts in technology and social development projects in Jigawa, his home state. Recently, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commissioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Future Academy in Hadejia, alongside a healthcare facility. The academy, facilitated through NITDA, aims to provide digital training and support innovation.

The empowerment programme and other initiatives by NITDA and the TMS movement reflect a broader effort to address poverty and promote economic growth in Nigeria. Key initiatives include providing financial aid and business tools to small-scale entrepreneurs and farmers, promoting digital literacy and entrepreneurship, and supporting education and healthcare.
