Nigerian artiste Chinagorom Onuoha, popularly known as African China, has expressed his potential interest in venturing into politics. In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, he revealed that his desire to see Nigeria become a better country has led him to reconsider his previous stance of avoiding politics. African China initially preferred activism but became concerned that activists were not achieving change.

African China emphasized that Nigerian youths may struggle to make a meaningful difference if they inherit a system that has not taught them to reject corruption. He stressed that the law is not properly structured, which could hinder the effectiveness of young leaders. According to him, if youths are given opportunities without being taught to reject corruption, there will not be much difference in the country's situation.

The singer also expressed concern over the growing rate of substance abuse among young Nigerians. He stated that 80% of youths are involved in substance abuse, which he believes is a significant issue. African China noted that many young people he has come across are either smoking or involved in other forms of substance abuse, making it seem like not being involved is a prerequisite for not belonging.

African China reflected on the issues that inspired some of his biggest songs and explained why his music has often addressed Nigeria's social and political problems. He mentioned that his song 'Mr President' was a wake-up call for Nigerians to address the issues facing the country. However, he feels that the situation has worsened over time, with the country now facing more significant challenges.

The singer called for greater attention to local production, infrastructure, and the revival of industries as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria's economy. He suggested that the government should create an environment that allows businesses and factories to thrive while reducing the country's dependence on imported goods. African China proposed that importing machines that can facilitate production would be more beneficial.

African China shared his thoughts on what Independence Day means to him, stating that its significance has changed over the years. He believes that the celebration has become just another day, with people discussing it, celebrating, and then returning to their normal lives without much impact. The singer feels that Independence Day should be a day to remember and reflect on the country's successes and achievements.

African China's consideration of politics is driven by his desire to see Nigeria become a better country. He hopes that by potentially entering politics, he can contribute to addressing the challenges facing Nigerian youths. The singer's thoughts on the country's situation and his proposed solutions reflect his concerns about the nation's future and his willingness to take action.
