The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has expressed admiration for Governor Peter Mbah's leadership in Enugu State, noting that his administration has built a solid infrastructure foundation necessary for economic growth. This commendation was made during an interactive session with Mbah at the Government House, following a tour of several mega projects executed by his administration.
The NGE President, Eze Anaba, described Mbah's infrastructural revolution as a testament to what a sub-national government can achieve with visionary leadership. He noted that Enugu State's effective deployment of resources and dedication to infrastructure development serve as a beacon of hope for Nigeria. Anaba recalled the Guild's previous visit to Enugu, where they witnessed the Smart Schools, ultra-modern Technical, Vocational Education and Training College, and other projects.
During their recent visit, the NGE members saw the completed Enugu International Hospital, an impressive road network, including the 40 km Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway. They also witnessed the fully resuscitated Hotel Presidential, one of the mega Smart Secondary Schools, and a massive tourism complex at Ngwo Pines, complete with a zipline. Additionally, they saw the ongoing integrated livestock hub, which can accommodate up to 40,000 cattle.
Eze Anaba praised Mbah's administration for its peer-review mindset, noting that some state governors have sent officials to understudy Enugu's policies and projects. He commended Mbah's leadership results, stating that it is no mean feat for a governor to attract respect from colleagues. Anaba emphasized that peer review would help states develop faster, as governors learn from each other's areas of strength.
Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba, extolled Mbah's infrastructural milestones, particularly in security, urging other states to emulate Enugu's high-tech statewide surveillance systems. He cited the swift deployment of security assets to track down kidnappers in Affa, Udi LGA, and the safe return of hostages. Osoba encouraged Mbah to continue his good work, adding that other governors should replicate Enugu's security architecture.
Governor Mbah thanked the media executives for visiting his projects, noting that they were mutually reinforcing and designed to fulfill his campaign promise to grow Enugu State's economy from $4.4bn to $30bn. He explained that the projects, including security, transport, investments, and tourism, are interconnected and aimed at achieving a common objective of making Enugu a preferred destination for investment, business, tourism, and living.
Mbah's administration has made significant strides in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The Enugu International Hospital, for instance, is a testament to the state's commitment to providing quality healthcare services. The ultra-modern Command and Control Centre has also helped drive down the crime rate significantly, making Enugu a safer place for residents and investors alike.
