The Nigerian Army has graduated 87 newly trained soldiers for deployment to various theatres of Operation FANSAN YAMMA. The soldiers, who are members of the 90 Regular Intake, completed Exercise Shining Star X/26 at the 1 Division Training School, Dalet Barracks, Kawo, Kaduna. The graduation ceremony was held on Friday with Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase represented by Brigadier General TM Opurum.
Brigadier General Opurum stated that the training was approved by Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu to strengthen army formations and enhance operational readiness. The eight-week training included field operations, live-fire drills, battle inoculation, land navigation, and Improvised Explosive Device awareness. The exercises aimed to prepare the soldiers for the prevailing security challenges within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The training tested the soldiers’ endurance, mental alertness, and cohesion through simulated combat fatigue, stress, and sleep deprivation. Brigadier General Opurum urged the graduates to apply the skills acquired, maintain discipline and loyalty, and adhere to the Nigerian Army’s code of conduct and rules of engagement. The graduates will be deployed to support ongoing security operations.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has made significant arrests and recoveries in various operations across the state. Between September 16 and 26, 2026, the police arrested 11 suspects, recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms, and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards. The operations were carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The police also impounded eight vehicles for obstructing traffic during a “No Parking” operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge. The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the successes were recorded through effective policing, targeted operations, and proactive enforcement. The operations yielded multiple recoveries, including mobile phones and assorted electrical materials.
Detectives recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint lodged on September 16. Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested in connection with the alleged theft, while an accomplice, Saheed, remains at large. Investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The Ogun State Police Command continues to carry out operations to combat crime and restore order. In another operation, SWAT operatives arrested three suspects on September 21 after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and an unregistered TVS motorcycle around Dalemo, Ota. The suspects were linked to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons connected with the alleged activities.
