The Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation (NSSF) is launching a digital portal on October 1, 2026, to enhance organised shooting sports, improve athlete development, and establish a structured system for participation across the country. The portal, supported by DICON Gray Insignia Limited (DGI) through its shooting-sports programme, The Armory, will provide a central platform for membership, club affiliation, training, competitions, and other activities.
The initiative aims to strengthen administrative and technical structures around shooting sports, improve access to facilities, and create clearer pathways for athletes to progress from grassroots participation to national and international competitions. As part of the sensitisation campaign, stakeholders will receive information on membership, licensing, affiliated clubs, professional training, competitions, and youth-development opportunities.
The digital platform will make it easier for athletes, clubs, institutions, and participants to engage with the federation and access information relating to activities within the sport. The move represents an attempt to bring greater structure to a discipline that requires specialised facilities, technical expertise, regulated participation, and regular competition to develop athletes capable of competing at the highest level.
DICON Gray Insignia, supporting the initiative through The Armory, has been involved in efforts to develop shooting sports infrastructure and training opportunities in Nigeria. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DGI, Bem Ibrahim Garba, has said Nigeria has the potential to make a significant impact in international shooting sports if athletes are provided with modern facilities and training opportunities that meet international standards.
The partnership with the National Sports Commission is expected to upgrade and manage the Abuja shooting range to international standards, providing athletes with improved facilities for training and competition. The development is part of a wider push to improve the quality of shooting facilities available to Nigerian athletes and create an environment capable of supporting high-level competition.
The October 1 digital rollout will complement infrastructure development by creating a more organised pathway for people interested in the sport. The initiative will cater not only to established athletes but also to clubs, institutions, recreational participants, and young people seeking opportunities to develop their skills within a regulated sporting environment.
A stronger registration and affiliation system could help the federation maintain clearer records of athletes and clubs while improving communication around competitions, training programmes, and other activities. The National Sports Commission has identified shooting and para-shooting among the optional sports approved for the Coal City Games 2026, indicating the discipline's place within Nigeria's broader sports-development framework.
