The Tillabéri region has emerged as a significant contributor to Niger's national solidarity efforts, mobilizing 196,872,363 FCFA for the Fonds de solidarité pour la sauvegarde de la patrie (FSSP) over a three-year period. This impressive feat has earned the region the second position nationally in terms of contributions to the fund. The achievement was announced during a meeting held on October 29, 2026, chaired by the President of the FSSP, Mme Réki Moussa Hassane Djermakoye.
The meeting, which brought together administrative authorities and representatives of various socio-professional groups in the region, aimed to assess the progress made by the FSSP over the past three years. Discussions focused on the resources mobilized, projects financed, and challenges faced, as well as proposals to enhance mobilization efforts and increase citizen participation. According to the data presented, the department of Filingué led the way in the region, contributing over 69 million FCFA, followed by the department of Kollo with over 40 million FCFA.
The department of Tillabéri ranked third, with contributions exceeding 20 million FCFA. The commune rurale d'Anzourou also made a notable contribution of 220,000 FCFA. Furthermore, the administrator of the commune rurale de Karma contributed to the fund by providing 38 acts of cession of parcels valued at over 3 million FCFA. These efforts demonstrate the commitment of local populations to supporting national development initiatives.
During the meeting, Mme Réki Moussa Hassane Djermakoye commended regional, departmental, and communal authorities for their dedication and encouraged them to sustain and intensify their efforts. She also expressed gratitude to the authorities for their contributions to national solidarity. The Governor of Tillabéri, Colonel Maïna Boukar, emphasized that the evaluation of the fund's performance should not solely focus on the amounts collected but also consider the concrete impact of the projects financed.
Colonel Maïna Boukar invited participants to propose concrete solutions to improve resource mobilization and enhance the effectiveness of funded projects. He also announced plans for a regional day of solidarity and fraternity, aiming to bring administrators and citizens together to address local concerns and development challenges. This initiative seeks to foster a culture of concertation, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
The FSSP's interventions encompass various sectors, including the promotion of local rice production, awareness campaigns on general mobilization, and the integration and professional insertion of 1,000 young graduates. The fund also supports the development of large-scale irrigation projects, the establishment of factories, workshops, and vehicle assembly units, as well as the manufacturing of spare parts. These initiatives aim to strengthen national production capacities and finance priority projects.
Participants at the meeting proposed measures to improve mobilization actions and broaden citizen participation, with the goal of consolidating the fund's resources and enhancing its contribution to financing selected projects. In recognition of his efforts, the Association of Traditional Chiefs of Tillabéri presented a satisfaction certificate to Governor Colonel Maïna Boukar, acknowledging his commitment to involving traditional leaders in regional decision-making processes.
