The Delta North Nigeria Democratic Congress, (NDC) Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders Council has urged Deltans to consider and support the party. This appeal was made in Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area, as part of the council's sensitisation campaign to the nine local government areas of Delta north senatorial district. The council aims to expand its membership and strengthen its efforts in supporting the party and all its candidates.
The Council Chairman, Chief Alex Ikpeazu, emphasized that the stakeholders have decided to engage traditional institutions, community leaders, professional bodies, youths, women and other stakeholders. This engagement is to ensure that citizens understand the rationale behind the formation of NDC and their positive implications for the state and country. The meeting was organised to demonstrate support for Peter Obi, Deacon Chris Iyovware and other candidates.
The secretary of the Council, High Chief Sony Neme, stated that the meeting was more than mobilisation, as it created an opportunity for stakeholders to interact, network and discuss issues affecting the country. The participants were gathered as patriotic Nigerians to play a more active role in determining the political direction of Delta State and the country.
One of the participants, Chief Steven Ikpade, noted that their mobilisation would continue ahead of the 2027 general elections. The host, Chief Emma Ogbe, reiterated the Council's commitment to the success of NDC at all levels, revealing that the Diaspora EXCO will be inaugurated in the next meeting. The large turnout demonstrated the willingness of stakeholders in Delta north to participate in activities that promote community interaction and national development.
Distinguished leaders and stakeholders who spoke on the need for a change of political direction included Chief Alfred Okoruwe, Mr. Kenneth Rafua, Oshimili South State House of Assembly Candidate, Chief Eluaka, and Ika Federal Constituency NDC Candidate. Others present at the occasion were Prof Godwin Isitor, Hon Obi Okoh, Pastor Stanley Ofulue, Comrade Tony Osu, Engr Emeka Okonkwor, and leaders from Delta Central and Delta South.
The council was established to support NDC candidates at all levels and provide clearer understanding of their objectives and expected benefits to the masses. Ikpeazu appreciated everyone for their presence, valuable contributions, and commitment to the collective progress of the people and the party.
