The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has extended its Nigerian Content Academy training programme to companies operating in the midstream sector of the oil and gas industry. This move aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of professionals in the sector. The training, part of the Board's LEARNFEST series, commenced at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The five-day training programme is specifically designed for midstream operators, with participants drawn from Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). This is the first batch of training tailored for midstream operators, indicating NCDMB's commitment to developing local content across the industry. The programme covers key aspects of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act.

The training curriculum includes the Board's mandate and key regulatory processes in the industry. Participants will also engage in practical sessions, including visits to the Nigerian Content Tower, the Nigerian Content Gas Plant in Elebele, and the Nigerian Content Training Centre. These activities are designed to provide hands-on experience and deepen understanding of industry operations.

At the opening ceremony, the Director of Capacity Building at NCDMB, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, represented by Doris Opuwari-Bai, urged participants to actively engage in the programme and provide feedback to improve future editions. This emphasis on participation and feedback underscores NCDMB's commitment to delivering relevant and effective training.

The extension of the training programme to midstream operators aligns with NCDMB's strategic objectives to develop local content and enhance industry capacity. By investing in human capital development, NCDMB aims to increase Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry and promote sustainable economic growth.

The midstream sector plays a crucial role in the oil and gas industry, involving the transportation, storage, and processing of hydrocarbons. Effective training in this sector can lead to improved operational efficiency, safety, and environmental management. NCDMB's initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the sector's performance and contribution to the economy.

As the programme progresses, participants are expected to gain valuable insights into industry regulations, best practices, and innovative technologies. The training will also facilitate networking opportunities among professionals in the sector, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Overall, NCDMB's training programme is poised to enhance the capabilities of midstream operators and promote local content development in the oil and gas industry.
