The 2026 Nairobi International Trade Fair is set to take place at Jamhuri Park from September 28 to October 4, with over 500 exhibitors expected to attend. Nairobi Deputy County Commissioner for Kibera Sub-County Victor Kamonde has assured visitors that security agencies have been put on alert and drainage systems inspected to ensure a smooth and safe event. Authorities have inspected the showground and opened drainage channels ahead of the event.
According to Kamonde, security officers will be deployed to respond to security incidents, including petty theft, as large crowds gather at the showground. He emphasized that authorities are prepared to secure the event and ensure the safety of visitors. The security measures are aimed at preventing and responding to potential security threats.
In addition to security preparations, authorities have also checked drainage and water channels to prepare for possible heavy rainfall during the trade fair. Kamonde explained that all drainages and water channels are being opened in case of excess rainwater during the show. This is in anticipation of the El Niño rains that are expected to occur during the event.
The Nairobi Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Branch has reported that preparations for the fair have reached 99 per cent following an inspection of the Jamhuri Park Showground. ASK branch Chairperson Levi Mukhweso stated that exhibitors and organisers are completing final preparations for the week-long event. The fair will bring together businesses, government agencies, research institutions, financial service providers, manufacturers, and technology companies.
The fair will feature exhibitions, product demonstrations, training, and business engagements. Mukhweso noted that visitors will have an opportunity to see new technologies and learn about modern agricultural practices. The event aims to promote innovation and provide a platform for exhibitors to showcase their products and services.
The 2026 edition of the trade fair will introduce a family package for groups of three to nine people. Visitors attending for one day will receive a 10 per cent discount, while those attending for two to seven days will receive a 12.5 per cent discount and free parking. This is aimed at encouraging more people to attend the event.
Agriculture remains at the centre of the fair, which has expanded to include finance, insurance, logistics, manufacturing, energy, education, research, and technology. The fair will also feature a Business Nexus and Technology Showcase, where exhibitors will hold business meetings, launch products, and engage potential suppliers and institutional buyers.
