Rachael Moraa, a 23-year-old woman from Naivasha, met her British lover, Mark Fredrick Watson, on a social media dating platform in 2023. Their online chats blossomed into a romantic relationship, and Watson traveled to Kenya in mid-2024 to live with Moraa. The couple acquired a Sh8.6 million house at Kinamba, which Moraa's family considered a symbol of commitment. Moraa's father, George Makori Nyagucha, was directly involved in the purchase of the house, which he believed was a gift from Watson to his daughter.

The relationship between Moraa and Watson appeared happy, but it was later revealed that they had been experiencing marital strife and accusations of infidelity. Moraa's family recalls her speaking optimistically about her life, but things took a dramatic turn when she went missing on December 8, 2025, while Watson was in England. Moraa's father received a call from his daughter, who informed him that she and Watson had a quarrel and that Watson had decided to evict her from their shared house.

Ten days after Moraa went missing, her body was found at the Naivasha sub-County Hospital mortuary. Her father claims that mortuary attendants told the family that Moraa was brought to the facility as an accident victim, with records showing she was hit by a vehicle at the Kayole area on the Naivasha-Nairobi highway. However, Moraa's family insists that she was murdered, and the mysterious death is now the subject of an inquest before a Naivasha Court.

During the inquest, Watson testified that he and Moraa had differences that arose after he received information about suspected infidelity. He claimed that he decided to relocate Moraa from their shared house to a rented apartment, assisted by his lawyer, due to the allegations. Watson also stated that he relied on his Kenyan lawyer to facilitate the relocation process and that he catered for all the expenses.

Watson told the court that he was shocked to learn of Moraa's death through his lawyer, after he failed to reach her on phone. He claimed that he skipped her burial after receiving threatening messages from anonymous sources but sent Sh110,000 to Moraa's family to facilitate the burial. Moraa was laid to rest on January 23, 2026, at her parents' home in Kisii, a month after her body was recovered.

Moraa's father, George Makori Nyagucha, expressed his pain and frustration, stating that the family suspects their kin was killed by unknown assailants. He believes that Moraa was killed before the incident was made to look like a hit-and-run accident. Nyagucha emphasized that the family wants justice for Moraa, who was young and had a bright future.

The court is now seeking to unravel the circumstances that led to Moraa's death, as it remains unclear how she ended up dead in the mortuary. The inquest aims to trace and interrogate the persons Moraa was last seen interacting with as part of the probe into her mysterious death.
