Starting November 2, 2026, MTN MoMo users in Benin will benefit from new tariff conditions and increased transaction limits. This change, announced by MTN Mobile Money Bénin SA, aligns with the new guidelines from the Central Bank of West African States (Bceao) regarding interoperability of electronic money services in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (Uemoa). The new measures aim to facilitate financial transactions for its customers.

The reforms include changes to interoperable transfers, applicable fees, and account limits. As per Bceao's notice N°0019, all interoperable electronic money transactions must be conducted through the PI-SPI platform, accessible via the new MoMo application. This change is accompanied by a new tariff grid for national interoperable transfers. Transactions cumulatively less than or equal to 8,000 F Cfa per day will be free, while fees for transactions exceeding this amount will be set at 0.5% of the transfer value.

In addition to these tariff adjustments, MTN MoMo has announced an increase in account limits. From November 2, the maximum allowed balance will rise from 2 million to 4 million F Cfa. The monthly cumulative recharge limit will also increase from 10 million to 15 million F Cfa. Furthermore, the limit for interoperable transfers from a MoMo account will be raised from 500,000 F Cfa to 2 million F Cfa per transaction.

The PI-SPI services will enable subscribers to send and receive money from over 170 approved participants, including banks, electronic money establishments, microfinance institutions, and payment establishments, across the eight Uemoa countries. Clients can access these services by either downloading the new MoMo application and navigating to the PI-SPI section or by dialing the USSD code *880# and selecting option 8.

MTN MoMo's new measures are designed to enhance the company's financial services in line with the evolution of digital financial services in the Uemoa region. The changes aim to provide customers with expanded transaction possibilities in a more interconnected environment. The new features and increased limits are expected to offer users more flexibility in their daily financial operations.

The introduction of the PI-SPI platform and the revised transaction limits are part of MTN MoMo's efforts to improve its services and comply with Bceao's regulations. The company seeks to provide a more seamless and efficient experience for its customers. By increasing transaction limits and introducing a new tariff grid, MTN MoMo aims to meet the growing needs of its users.

With these changes, MTN MoMo users in Benin can look forward to a more enhanced and convenient mobile money experience. The new features and increased transaction limits will take effect on November 2, 2026. MTN MoMo's commitment to improving its services reflects its goal of providing innovative and customer-centric financial solutions in the region.
