MTN Ghana is urging its customers to move beyond basic Mobile Money transactions and explore the wider range of digital financial services available on the MoMo App. This initiative aims to deepen digital financial inclusion and enable customers to use technology for saving, investing, accessing credit, and planning their financial future. The company is repositioning MoMo from a transaction platform to a broader financial-wellness tool.

According to Manager for Brands and Communication at MTN Ghana, Isaac Agyenim Boateng, the MoMo App offers a range of financial services, including savings, investments, loans, and pension products. These services provide customers with opportunities to manage and grow their finances through their mobile devices. Although many customers still rely on the *170# short code for basic transactions, the MoMo App offers a more comprehensive suite of financial services.

MTN has been engaging with customers across the Volta Region, including Ho and surrounding communities, to promote the MoMo App and educate them on its various services. The campaign, which has been ongoing for two weeks, aims to help customers download the app and understand how to use its services. The objective is to encourage customers to move beyond simple transactions and use their digital wallets to build greater financial stability.

Security remains a critical concern, and Mr. Boateng urged customers to remain vigilant against fraud. He assured them that the MoMo platform has security measures in place, including continuous customer education through SMS messages, social media campaigns, and weekly fraud-prevention tips. Customers are cautioned never to disclose their MoMo PINs or one-time passwords, as their PIN is their key to their wallet.

Some vendors participating in the MomoFest activities highlighted the growing importance of cashless payments to their businesses. Digital payments have reduced the risks associated with carrying large amounts of cash, and vendors like Abandoned Grace Oma Mefut and Millicent, popularly known as MG of MG Scoreset, have seen the benefits of cashless transactions. The growing adoption of digital payments is changing how businesses operate and interact with customers.

MTN Ghana believes that the expansion of digital financial services could make financial services more accessible and encourage customers to manage their financial lives digitally. The company is committed to educating customers about the benefits of using MoMo for saving, investing, and financial planning. By doing so, MTN aims to promote financial inclusion and improve the overall financial well-being of its customers.

The MoMoFest event, which featured entertainment and educational activities, was part of MTN's efforts to engage with customers and promote the MoMo App. The event provided a platform for customers to learn about the various services offered by MoMo and interact with the company's representatives. MTN's initiative to promote financial inclusion and digital financial planning is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of its customers.
