MTN Ghana has partnered with the Sunyani Municipal Health Directorate and Suncity Radio to promote physical fitness and encourage residents to undergo regular health checks. The initiative, which included a health walk and free health screening, was part of this year's SunCity Fest, a community engagement program aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles. The event drew a large crowd, including members of keep-fit clubs and football enthusiasts.

The health walk and screening exercise attracted a significant number of participants who marched through principal streets of the municipality, accompanied by brass band music. The participants later converged at the Sunyani Coronation Park for a workout session. The event was well-attended, reflecting the community's interest in promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.

The Municipal Health Promotion Officer of the Sunyani Municipal Hospital, Ms Justine Takyiwaa, provided details about the screening exercise. Participants were screened for various health conditions, including blood pressure, HIV, eye conditions, ear, nose and throat conditions, breast examination, Hepatitis B, and general medical consultation. All services were provided free of charge, and participants with serious health conditions were referred to specialised health facilities for further examination and treatment.

The Bono Regional Manager of MTN Ghana, Mr Kofi Owusu, highlighted the company's corporate social responsibility efforts. He stated that the initiative aimed to support customers and give back to the communities where MTN operates. The exercise also sought to raise awareness about the importance of regular health checks and encourage residents to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Mr Owusu mentioned that MTN Ghana expected at least 500 people to be screened by the end of the exercise. Additionally, as part of efforts to improve customer service and accessibility, MTN Ghana had opened a new office branch in Berekum, with shops serving customers in Berekum, Dormaa Ahenkro, Sampa, and other parts of the region.

The Chief Executive Officer of Suncity Group of Companies, Mr Ransford Antwi, urged residents to take advantage of the free screening to know their health status and seek medical attention promptly where necessary. He emphasised the importance of regular health checks in identifying potential health conditions early and promoting healthier communities.

The health walk and screening exercise was a significant event in Sunyani, demonstrating the collaboration between MTN Ghana, the Sunyani Municipal Health Directorate, and Suncity Radio in promoting healthy lifestyles. The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the community, encouraging residents to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
