Vocalize People’s Renaissance Movement party leader Caleb Amisi has accused the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of infiltrating the Linda Mwananchi movement. He claims this is an attempt to weaken and divide the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election. Amisi made these allegations while speaking at PAG and Kingdom City churches in Diani, Kwale County.
Amisi stated that the Linda Mwananchi movement was initially formed as a platform for the younger generation. Its founders had backed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to lead the initiative. However, the entry of older politicians later triggered disagreements and competing political interests. This has led to growing divisions within the movement over its leadership and the coalition it will use to contest the 2027 elections.
The Saboti MP claimed that several leaders within the movement, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, were not part of the faction's original formation. Amisi alleged that the continued expansion of the movement created an opportunity for government operatives to infiltrate its structures and fuel divisions among its leaders.
Amisi warned that the more the movement welcomed other people, the more it unknowingly welcomed NIS operatives. His allegations come amid growing disagreements within Linda Mwananchi over its leadership and the coalition it will use to contest the 2027 elections. Amisi also stated that if Sifuna is not going to lead the movement, they will take it over and lead it in the right direction.
Amisi accused political actors of derailing the movement's original objective of providing a platform for a younger generation of leaders. He asserted that the younger generation will not allow any attempt to steal votes in the 2027 contest. Amisi argued that increased political awareness among the youth would make electoral manipulation unfeasible.
The PM leader also criticised UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar over his recent remarks concerning alleged “ghost” or dead voters. Amisi questioned the integrity of the electoral process, adding that IEBC should be careful as they will be officiating a historic election. This will be the first time Kenya will have a one-term president, and Amisi warned that they will be closely monitoring the process.
Amisi's remarks come as opposition parties and political movements intensify preparations for the 2027 General Election. Electoral reforms, the credibility of the voters' register, and the security of the vote have emerged as major political contentions. The youth will use digital platforms to monitor and document proceedings at polling stations, including the counting of votes, to give real-time monitoring of the electoral process.
