Morocco's trade exchanges with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries have shown significant growth, rising from approximately $9.5 billion in 2020 to over $21 billion in 2025. This development is part of balanced partnerships based on the win-win principle. The announcement was made by Youssef Zahoui, Director of International Trade Relations at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Economic Inclusion.

The growth in trade exchanges was revealed during the 42nd ministerial session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the OIC, held in Istanbul. Zahoui emphasized Morocco's efforts to strengthen cooperation with OIC countries in trade financing by enhancing coordination between export guarantee agencies, the Islamic International Trade Finance Corporation, and the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credits.

To facilitate trade, Zahoui highlighted the importance of modernizing and expanding the scope of the preferential trade system among member states. He also stressed the need to enhance the exchange of experiences and expertise, particularly in digitalization and artificial intelligence. Morocco is willing to share its experience with "Tamwilcom" with interested member countries.

The role of digitalization and artificial intelligence in accelerating the processing of commercial documents and supporting exporters was also underscored. Morocco aims to double the number of exporting companies through programs targeting new exporters, small and medium-sized enterprises, and cooperatives. These efforts align with the country's vision of improving the business climate, promoting investment, and developing infrastructure.

Zahoui emphasized the significance of food security as a lever for stability and integrated local development. He praised the cooperation established with the Islamic Organization for Food Security within the framework of Islamic common action. The COMCEC session examined global economic developments, the situation of member countries, and the development of a sustainable and competitive tourism sector.

The session also discussed ways to increase agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and reduce poverty, as well as strengthen cooperation in digital transformation. The COMCEC, created in 1981, aims to enhance economic and commercial cooperation among the 57 member states of the OIC. Its primary objective is to address the economic challenges faced by the Islamic Ummah and contribute to the development efforts of member states.

The COMCEC serves as a platform for political dialogue, exchange of experiences, and good practices, as well as harmonization of policies among member states. The committee's efforts focus on fostering cooperation and collaboration to achieve sustainable economic growth and development. Morocco's growing trade with OIC countries reflects the country's strategic position as a logistical and industrial hub connecting Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
