Morocco's Interior Minister, Abdelouafi Laftit, presented the ministry's 2027 budget plan to the House of Representatives, aiming to accelerate human and territorial development. The plan aligns with the government's program and royal high orientations, focusing on strategic sovereignty in water, energy, food, and digital sectors. The budget will support advanced regionalization and administrative decentralization.
The 2027 budget for the Interior Ministry is set at 58.7 billion dirhams. It aims to implement new integrated development programs, continue institutional reforms, and modernize projects initiated in recent years. Laftit emphasized the ministry's efforts to support territorial instances financially and technically, develop governance methods, and generalize administrative decentralization measures.
Laftit highlighted the modification of the organic law related to regions, clarifying and redistributing regional competencies. The reform strengthened regional financial capacities by increasing state transfers from 10 to 12 billion dirhams annually, starting in 2027. This change aims to enhance regional development and economic growth.
The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) has shown positive results, with significant investments in infrastructure and basic services in under-equipped areas. The initiative allocated around 698 million dirhams for social structures and 500 million dirhams to support vulnerable groups, including children, youth, and people with disabilities.
The Interior Ministry has also focused on valorizing collective lands for economic and social development. The ministry updated its strategy for 2026-2030, targeting projects that generate income and create jobs, particularly for young people and women. In 2026, 340 projects were programmed, benefiting 26,500 members of Soulaliyate communities.
The ministry is implementing several projects to dematerialize administrative procedures and formalities at the local level, aiming to modernize management and enhance governance. These initiatives seek to simplify citizens' and businesses' access to administrative services and reduce processing times.
Laftit stressed the importance of preserving stability and security in Morocco, highlighting the ministry's commitment to addressing potential threats. He emphasized that stability is a collective responsibility and requires constant vigilance, particularly in the face of persistent terrorist threats.
