The Moroccan government has initiated two development projects in the Es-Semara province, with a total investment of over 15 million dirhams. These projects aim to strengthen water security and develop the local agricultural potential. The launch took place in the commune of Sidi Ahmed Laaroussi, in the presence of the provincial governor, Brahim Boutoumilate, and other local officials. The projects were announced on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Fête de l'Unité.
The first project involves the creation and development of an irrigated perimeter in the Ferdoukha area, covering 100 hectares. The initial phase of the project focuses on 20 hectares and has a budget of 14.83 million dirhams, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty. This project aims to enhance agricultural production, improve food security, and increase income-generating activities for local farmers and breeders.
According to Haissoun Maalainain, the interim provincial director of agriculture, the initial phase of the project includes the hydro-agricultural development of an individual irrigated perimeter of 20 hectares. This involves installing a localized drip irrigation system and drilling two wells with a depth of approximately 850 meters. The project is expected to contribute to the local economy's dynamism and promote investment.
The second project involves equipping two wells with necessary installations for their operation and solar-powered energy supply, at a total cost of 504,240 dirhams. This project is funded by the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) and aims to improve access to potable water and ensure sustainable management of water resources through renewable energy.
Both projects are part of a broader effort to enhance rural infrastructure, combining sustainable water resource management and agricultural development. They are expected to open up new development prospects for the commune of Sidi Ahmed Laaroussi and the entire Es-Semara province. The projects align with the "Génération Green 2020-2030" strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The launch of these projects demonstrates the government's commitment to promoting sustainable development and improving living conditions in rural areas. The projects are also expected to create new opportunities for young agricultural project leaders, in line with the government's strategy to support entrepreneurship and job creation.
The development projects in Es-Semara are part of a larger effort to promote economic growth and social development in Morocco's southern regions. The government has been investing in various initiatives to improve infrastructure, enhance agricultural productivity, and increase access to basic services such as water and energy.
