The Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS) has launched two digital platforms, VigiMobile and VigiUp, to facilitate the reporting of adverse reactions to medications and health products. This initiative was presented during the Med Safety Week 2026, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of reporting adverse events. The launch event took place in Rabat, in the presence of several high-ranking officials, including the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Abdelkrim Mezine Belfkih.

The new platforms are part of Morocco's efforts to modernize its national health system, as per the High Orientations of King Mohammed VI, to ensure health and medication safety. VigiMobile is designed for reporting adverse reactions to medications and vaccines, while VigiUp is for reporting reactions to other health products. The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Youns Bjijou, emphasized that these tools will make it easier for professionals and citizens to report adverse reactions.

The launch of VigiMobile and VigiUp is a significant step towards enhancing pharmacovigilance in Morocco. According to Samir Ahid, Director General of AMMPS, the agency is committed to modernizing its surveillance systems to improve the early detection of risks and facilitate the participation of healthcare professionals and citizens in drug safety. The platforms will enable the collection and analysis of data on adverse reactions, which will help to identify potential safety risks.

The Med Safety Week 2026 campaign, which runs from November 2 to 8, aims to raise awareness about the importance of reporting adverse events. The campaign's theme, "Adverse events, don't ignore them, report them," emphasizes the crucial role of reporting in ensuring patient safety. As part of the campaign, AMMPS has organized a national and regional awareness program, including activities targeting university students and healthcare professionals.

A panel discussion was held during the launch event, focusing on the role of healthcare professionals in identifying and reporting adverse events. The panel highlighted the importance of a culture of reporting and the need for coordination between national and territorial actors. The discussion also emphasized the need for healthcare professionals to be aware of their role in ensuring patient safety.

The launch of VigiMobile and VigiUp is a significant step towards strengthening Morocco's pharmacovigilance system. The platforms will enable healthcare professionals and citizens to report adverse reactions easily and efficiently. This will help to improve the safety of medications and health products, ultimately contributing to better patient outcomes.
