The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports has announced an extension of the deadline for nominations for the National Grand Prize for Journalism. According to the ministry, the new deadline for submissions is November 10, allowing journalists and media professionals sufficient time to complete and submit their nomination files. This decision was made in accordance with the provisions of Article 8 of the decree organizing the National Grand Prize for Journalism.

The National Grand Prize for Journalism encompasses various categories, including Television, Radio, Written Press, Electronic Press, Agency Press, Regional Press, Amazighian Press, and Press Production on Culture and the Saharan-Hassani Space. Additionally, the prize includes categories for Photography, Investigative Journalism, and Cartoon Drawing. Two honorary prizes will also be awarded: one to a national media personality who has made a significant contribution to the development of the national media landscape, and another to Moroccan journalists working in foreign media institutions.

To be eligible for the National Grand Prize for Journalism, candidates must be Moroccan nationals, have been practicing journalism for at least three years, and possess a professional press card. They must also be employed by a national press institution and not be members of the prize's organizing committee or jury. Furthermore, candidates who have won the prize in the last three years are not eligible to apply.

Candidates can submit their nominations either individually or as part of a team. However, they can only submit one work per category, except for the Photography category, which allows up to ten photographic works. Media institutions can also nominate journalists or teams of journalists working for them. The nominated works must be submitted in their original format and must have been published or broadcast in a national media outlet between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

For electronic press works, candidates must ensure that their submissions remain available on the news website where they were published until the official announcement of the prize winners. Nominations can be submitted in five copies to the secretariat of the prize's organizing committee at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports or via email. A nomination form can be downloaded from the ministry's website.

The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports emphasized that the National Grand Prize for Journalism aims to promote and recognize excellence in journalism in Morocco. The prize seeks to reward journalists and media professionals who have made significant contributions to the development of the national media landscape and who uphold the noble principles of the profession.

The extension of the deadline for nominations is expected to encourage more journalists and media professionals to participate in the competition. The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports will announce the winners of the National Grand Prize for Journalism at a later date.
