Morocco's government has announced a new 400 million dirham allocation to support road transporters. The funds will be disbursed to eligible transporters from November 1-15. The announcement was made by Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh after a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri. This move aims to alleviate the financial burden on transporters due to rising fuel costs.

The registration of beneficiaries on the dedicated digital platform will begin on November 10, followed by the disbursement of funds. Minister Kayouh assured that aid for the previous period will be released promptly. The support scheme covers various vehicle categories, with specific amounts allocated to each. These allocations are designed to ensure fair support across different segments of the transport industry.

The allocated amounts vary by vehicle type. For instance, intercity buses will receive 5,600 dirhams, while urban public transport buses will get 4,960 dirhams. Road tractors are allocated 4,800 dirhams. The support also extends to trucks, with those weighing over 3.5 and under 14 tons receiving 2,080 dirhams. Larger trucks, weighing over 19 tons, will receive 3,360 dirhams. These allocations reflect the government's effort to tailor support to the specific needs of each transport category.

In addition to trucks and buses, the support scheme includes tourist transport vehicles, taxis, and rural transport services. Tourist transport vehicles in the first category will receive 2,240 dirhams, while the second and third categories will get 1,220 and 800 dirhams, respectively. Large taxis are allocated 1,760 dirhams, small taxis 1,280 dirhams, and rural mixed transport 1,440 dirhams. These allocations aim to ensure that all segments of the transport sector receive necessary support.

The support scheme also covers personnel transport, towing services, and school transport. Personnel transport for others is set at 960 dirhams, while towing and school transport services each receive 800 dirhams. The semi-monthly disbursement schedule aligns with the fuel price adjustments, which are revised on the first and 15th of each month. This synchronization ensures that support is provided in line with fluctuations in fuel costs.

Since the inception of the exceptional support program, 11 billion dirhams have been disbursed to professionals, with approximately 2.5 billion dirhams allocated in 2026 alone. Minister Kayouh justified the continuation of this program by citing the need to protect citizens' purchasing power and maintain market stability, particularly in the face of rising diesel prices. This program reflects the government's commitment to supporting economic sectors vulnerable to fuel price fluctuations.

The ongoing support for road transporters underscores Morocco's efforts to balance economic growth with social stability. By cushioning the impact of rising fuel costs on transporters, the government aims to prevent potential price hikes that could affect consumers. This proactive approach is part of a broader strategy to ensure economic resilience and maintain stability in the transport sector, which is crucial for the country's overall economic health.
