Moroccan lawyer Abd al-Samad al-Idrisi has publicly denied statements and positions attributed to him by Suleiman al-Raisuni, describing them as "lies and fabrications". In a Facebook post, al-Idrisi aimed to clarify the facts and present what he considers the full truth about his relationship with al-Raisuni. He explained that his three visits to al-Raisuni in prison were at the latter's direct request and with the help of some relatives and friends.
Al-Idrisi stated that his role during those visits was limited to conveying al-Raisuni's desire to seek mediation by some politicians and party officials to request a pardon on his behalf. He added that he subsequently ended his visits to al-Raisuni and did not meet or communicate with him until his release. The lawyer detailed that communication between them resumed on April 13, 2025, after receiving messages from an international Tunisian phone number claiming to be al-Raisuni.
According to al-Idrisi, the messages included a request to contribute to preparing a report that al-Raisuni intended to include in a book about what al-Idrisi experienced as his lawyer in several cases. Al-Idrisi claimed he categorically refused the request and confronted al-Raisuni about previously attributing facts and statements to him that he did not make. He emphasized his refusal to discuss or write about him.
Al-Idrisi alleged that al-Raisuni then resorted to what he described as "explicit blackmail", threatening to publish claims in his name that he claimed to have heard from some colleagues or that had stuck in his mind. The lawyer stated that on the same day, he sent a message to al-Raisuni, which he fully preserves, expressing his refusal to attribute any incorrect speech to him.
In the message, al-Idrisi told al-Raisuni that he had no right to attribute incorrect words to him and suggested that if al-Raisuni had any accounts to settle, he should do so away from him. Al-Idrisi also stated that if al-Raisuni wanted to reach a certain outcome, he could find another way to do so, away from him. He expressed surprise at al-Raisuni's behavior, describing it as contrary to the character of the person he once knew.
Al-Idrisi reaffirmed his denial of the statements attributed to him and announced that he retains documentation and correspondence that he claims prove his account of what happened. He also stated that he may publish the conversation that took place between him and al-Raisuni on April 13, 2025, in defense of what he described as the truth.
The lawyer concluded that he would not have resorted to this step if not for what he perceived as persistence in this behavior. The development in their public exchange comes as both figures navigate the complexities of their professional and personal relationships in Morocco.
