The Moroccan government has made significant progress in its housing aid program, with a budget of 300 million dirhams allocated to support citizens in need. According to Samir Belfkih, Minister of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, the program has overcome technical difficulties that previously hindered the disbursement of financial aid. The program targets two categories, with aid amounts of 70,000 and 100,000 dirhams.

The housing aid program, also known as the Royal Project, aims to support approximately 300,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2028. Belfkih stated that the ministry is currently evaluating the first phase of the program to assess its achievements. The program has already regularized the majority of pending beneficiary files, allowing for the disbursement of aid to those in need.

In addition to the housing aid program, the Ministry is working on a new urban planning law specific to rural areas, which is expected to be implemented in 2027. This law aims to address the unique challenges faced by rural communities. Belfkih also announced a project to build nearly 100,000 rural homes, with citizens receiving 40,000 dirhams in aid, as well as technical assistance and studies.

Belfkih recently conducted a field visit to the cities of Es-Semara, Laâyoune, and Tarfaya to assess the progress of projects under the city's policy. He discussed the state of progress with local partners and highlighted the 680 million dirham project to develop the city of Laâyoune in 2024, with the Ministry contributing 300 million dirhams.

The Minister also discussed projects in Es-Semara, which include the relocation of residents from Rbib and Kouiz camps. In Tarfaya, projects aim to relocate fishermen along 13 kilometers of coastline, improving their living conditions. These projects demonstrate the government's commitment to addressing housing and urban planning challenges.

Belfkih emphasized that the government remains committed to addressing housing and urban planning issues. The Ministry is working to improve the living conditions of citizens, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The housing aid program and other projects aim to promote sustainable development and social equity.

The government's efforts to address housing and urban planning challenges are ongoing.
