Moroccan authorities have taken into custody a man suspected of defaming the judicial police by making false accusations against international drug traffickers. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was referred to the public prosecutor by the judicial police in Fez. He is accused of making false statements that damaged the reputation of law enforcement officers.

According to sources, the suspect had previously filed a complaint against several individuals, including a notorious drug trafficker named Abdessalam El Haddouchi, accusing them of being involved in international drug trafficking. An investigation was launched, and the accused individuals were summoned for questioning. However, during the investigation, the suspect retracted his statements, claiming that they were false and made out of fear and revenge.

The suspect admitted that he had falsely implicated El Haddouchi and another individual, "A.A.", in the drug trafficking case. He claimed that he had done so to protect himself from El Haddouchi, with whom he had a prior dispute dating back to 2010. The suspect also stated that he had included "A.A." in the complaint based on unverified information that he was involved in drug trafficking.

The case against the suspect involves a complex web of accusations and counter-accusations. El Haddouchi, a known drug trafficker, had previously been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in international drug trafficking. The suspect's false accusations against him and others have now led to charges of defamation of judicial police.

The investigation into the suspect's claims revealed significant inconsistencies. Initially, he had stated that he had met with El Haddouchi and others in 2023, and that they had offered him money to join their drug trafficking network. However, during the confrontation, the suspect retracted these statements, admitting that they were false.

The public prosecutor has ordered the suspect to be held in custody and charged with defamation of judicial police. The case is set to go to trial on October 22. The suspect's actions have not only wasted valuable law enforcement resources but also damaged the reputation of innocent individuals.

This case highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in Morocco in combating drug trafficking and related crimes. The suspect's false accusations have diverted attention away from genuine investigations and have potentially put innocent lives at risk. The authorities have urged the public to be vigilant and to report any information about drug trafficking activities to the relevant authorities.
