Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has announced that its customers can now check their status and access the federal government’s ₦50,000 emergency relief support through its Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) channel. Customers can dial *557*327# from their registered phone numbers and select the option to check their eligibility for the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The intervention, led by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, aims to provide direct financial assistance to vulnerable households to help them meet essential needs amid prevailing economic pressures. Moniepoint is among the payment providers the government selected to disburse the relief funds. Beneficiary selection is based on the government’s eligibility criteria and verification processes.

The bank noted that the programme is being implemented in phases across the country, adding that not all customers would qualify or be selected at the same time. The selection process relies on verified national identity records and the National Social Register. Customers confirmed as beneficiaries will be guided through the steps to accept the support and receive the funds into their Moniepoint accounts at no additional cost.

Babatunde Olofin, CEO of Moniepoint, expressed the bank's pleasure in supporting eligible customers in receiving assistance under the government initiative. Mr Olofin said Moniepoint would deploy its technology and financial infrastructure to make the process accessible, seamless, and secure. He urged customers to use only the bank’s official USSD channel to check their eligibility or access the funds.

The bank also advised customers with enquiries to contact its customer service team or the NERSI helpdesk. Moniepoint's nationwide network of financial services infrastructure, including point-of-sale terminals across the country’s 774 council areas, will support efforts to extend access to the intervention.

Moniepoint emphasized that the process requires no additional payment, documentation, or third-party intervention. The bank's USSD channel provides an easy-to-use platform for customers to check their eligibility and access the relief funds. This move is expected to increase access to the intervention and provide support to those who need it.

The relief fund is part of the government's efforts to mitigate the impact of economic pressures on vulnerable households. With Moniepoint's USSD channel, eligible customers can now easily access the funds, which will help them meet their essential needs. The bank's support for the initiative is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the government's intervention.
