The Local Material Promotion Authority (MIPROMALO) in Cameroon has organized a week-long open door event at its Yaounde headquarters to promote import substitution using locally sourced and transformed resources. The event, launched on September 22, 2026, by Director General Dr. Likiby Boubakar, aims to showcase the authority's activities in transforming local materials and empowering youths with sustainable skills. The event runs through Friday, September 25, 2026.
The open door event, themed “Train builders of tomorrow today using local materials,” features an exhibition of products made from local materials, including blocks moulded from bricks and clay, pavers, balusters, pillars, kitchen utensils, and decorative artefacts. Dr. Boubakar emphasized that the event is part of MIPROMALO's efforts to contribute to the achievement of the National Development Strategy (SND30). The products are sold at varying prices, starting from FCFA 300 to several hundred thousand francs.
MIPROMALO's Director General, Dr. Likiby Boubakar, highlighted the importance of skill acquisition in sustainable development during the event. He noted that the authority's Specialized Vocational Training Centre offers hands-on skills in high-demand fields.
