Microhaem Scientifics, an indigenous IVD test kits manufacturer in the Great Lakes Region of Africa, has posted two Data Analyst job openings. The company, established in 2012 and strategically located in Kampala, Uganda, specializes in Point of Care tests, Molecular Diagnostics tests, and research and development in neglected tropical diseases. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in collecting, managing, analyzing, and interpreting large volumes of scientific, operational, commercial, and research data.
The Data Analysts will be responsible for developing dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data visualization tools to support management decision-making. They will generate actionable insights from scientific, laboratory, manufacturing, sales, and operational data, as well as design and maintain databases, data models, and reporting frameworks. Additionally, they will perform statistical analyses and trend evaluations to identify patterns, opportunities, and risks, and monitor key organizational performance indicators.
To qualify for the position, candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Biostatistics, Laboratory Science, Biomedical Technology, Natural Sciences, Epidemiology, Economics, or a related quantitative field. A postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Health Informatics, or a related field is an added advantage. Professional certifications in data analytics, business intelligence, database management, or statistical software are also desirable.
The ideal candidates will have a minimum of seven years of experience in a scientific, healthcare, pharmaceutical, laboratory, research, manufacturing, or related environment handling large volumes of data and generating management information. Proven experience in data mining, statistical analysis, business intelligence, and reporting is required, as well as experience working with complex datasets from multiple sources and transforming them into actionable insights.
Microhaem Scientifics is looking for candidates with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, and database management systems, as well as strong knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, R, Python, SAS, Stata, or equivalent. Experience with data visualization and business intelligence platforms is also essential. The successful candidates will be expected to ensure compliance with data governance, confidentiality, and information security standards.
The Data Analysts will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and reporting needs, develop forecasting models and predictive analytics to improve business performance, and automate recurring reports and data processing workflows to improve efficiency. They will also provide technical support and training to users on data management and reporting tools.
