Mfantsipim School is commemorating its 150th anniversary with a call for support from its alumni, corporate organisations, and benefactors to fund its future development priorities. The school's Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Capt. John B. Yamoah, made the appeal at the Sesquicentennial Awards and Fundraising Dinner held at the Accra International Conference Centre on October 31, 2026. The event aimed to celebrate the institution's heritage while mobilising resources for its future.

Capt. Yamoah described the anniversary as an opportunity to recognise the institution's rich history and contributions to Ghana's development. He emphasised that supporting Mfantsipim is an investment in the principle that quality education is essential to national development. The committee chairman urged old boys, corporate partners, and friends of the school to contribute generously, noting that every donation represents an investment in education, leadership, and Ghana's future.

The anniversary celebrations also sought to acknowledge generations of teachers, old boys, and other stakeholders whose dedication and service have contributed to the school's development and Ghana's progress. The awards ceremony recognised excellence across various fields, including academia, public service, business, arts, science, education, and media. The event honoured not only alumni but also individuals, organisations, teachers, and staff whose contributions have advanced the school and society.

According to Capt. Yamoah, the awards were designed to honour individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the school and society. He commended the awards subcommittee and 27 subject matter experts who led the adjudication process, as well as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Ghana for supporting the integrity and credibility of the awards. The experts ensured a rigorous and transparent selection process for the awardees.

The 150th anniversary celebrations were held under the theme, “Mfantsipim at 150: A Legacy of Excellence, Leadership and Service.” Capt. Yamoah said the event should inspire the present generation to dream bigger, work harder, and serve selflessly. The theme reflects the school's commitment to producing leaders who will drive Ghana's progress and development.
