Mbabane Highlanders secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Amawele, with their president, Shauwn 'MaMkhize' Mkhize, reacting to the win by emphasizing that the team chose to let their performance on the field speak for itself. The match was highly anticipated due to past connections between Mkhize and Amawele's boss, Chief Ally Kgomongwe. Kgomongwe had expressed confidence in his team's abilities before the match, stating they would show no mercy to his former club.
The win was a significant result for Mbabane Highlanders, who produced a commanding performance to secure all three points. According to MaMkhize, the team prefers to focus on their own game rather than engaging in pre-match exchanges. She highlighted that Highlanders did their talking where it matters most - on the field. This approach underlines the team's confidence in their abilities and their determination to let results speak louder than words.
MaMkhize was cautious when asked about the team's rivalry with Amawele, insisting that her focus remained on her own team rather than the opposition. She emphasized that Highlanders aim to play to the best of their abilities and win as many games as possible. The team's performance in the match reflected this approach, with the players delivering a strong display that earned them the win.
For Amawele, the defeat was a setback as they continue to shape their squad and search for consistency. Chief Ally Kgomongwe acknowledged that his team did not have sufficient time to prepare for the match but expressed optimism that the extension of the transfer window would give them an opportunity to strengthen their squad. He emphasized the importance of using this period to prepare better for upcoming matches.
Kgomongwe also identified avoidable mistakes as a key factor in the team's defeat, particularly the soft goals conceded. He expressed determination to help the team pick themselves up and try again in the next match. Amawele's loss was a significant blow, but the team's resolve to bounce back and improve will be tested in their upcoming fixtures.
The win for Mbabane Highlanders not only earned them three points but also boosted their morale. The team's emphatic victory will give them confidence as they move forward in the competition. MaMkhize's comments post-match reflected the team's satisfaction with their performance and their focus on maintaining this level of play.
As Amawele regroup and rebuild, they will look to address the issues that led to their defeat.
