Mauritius Finance has successfully concluded its 2026 roadshow in Egypt and Nigeria, bringing together over 350 investors, business leaders, financial institution representatives, and private equity professionals in Cairo and Lagos. The events, held on September 7 and 10, provided a platform for Mauritian experts in banking, trust services, law, taxation, fund management, and wealth management to meet with investors and companies seeking solutions for growth, investment structuring, and international expansion.

The roadshow highlighted the significant capital flows between Mauritius and Egypt, with estimated investments of USD 1.3 billion from Egypt transiting through Mauritius in 2025, and approximately USD 1.4 billion invested in Egypt through Mauritian structures. With Nigeria, Mauritius facilitated around USD 3.4 billion in Nigerian investments in 2025, while nearly USD 4 billion in Nigerian capital was structured through the Mauritius International Financial Centre for investment in other emerging markets.

In Cairo, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral investment flows and the role Mauritius can play in supporting the international expansion of Egyptian businesses. Key speakers included Sherif El Gabaly, president of the African Committee of the Egyptian Businessmen's Association, and Basel Roshdy, secretary-general of the Egyptian Private Equity Association. The Mauritian delegation also met with representatives from banks, pension funds, financial institutions, private equity firms, and major Nigerian corporations in Lagos.

The discussions emphasized the complementarity between the Nigerian and Mauritian financial markets, with Nigeria as a primary market for capital and investment on the continent, and Mauritius as a platform for structuring and deploying investments in African and emerging markets. Faraz Rojid, CEO of Mauritius Finance, stressed that the development of Mauritius' financial sector depends on an active presence in major African markets.

The roadshow allowed Mauritius Finance to showcase its expertise to investors and financial institutions involved in regional capital flows. The Mauritian delegation comprised representatives from Mauritius Finance, banks, management companies, fund administrators, trust service providers, and specialized firms. The mission also aimed to capture a share of the structuring, management, and deployment of African investments in third markets.

The roadshow resulted in strengthened relationships between Mauritius Finance and several professional and economic organizations, including the Egyptian Businessmen's Association, the Egyptian Private Equity Association, EnterpriseNGR, and AVCA – The African Private Capital Association. This effort supports Mauritius' goal of increasing its presence in key African markets and promoting its financial services.

The successful roadshow demonstrates Mauritius' commitment to fostering investment and financial cooperation with Egypt and Nigeria. By highlighting the potential for collaboration and expertise sharing, Mauritius Finance aims to solidify its position as a leading financial hub in Africa and a gateway for investments in emerging markets.
