Baby Ezekiel Aaron Cleo Grande Sable, born with Down syndrome and a severe heart condition, is facing new health difficulties. His parents, Christopher and Deborah Celidor-Fils, are worried about his condition and are seeking additional medical opinions. Ezekiel recently spent time in the hospital and has not been gaining weight as expected. His parents are scheduled to consult with another doctor recommended by the Overseas Medical Care Assistance (OMCA) foundation.

Ezekiel's health journey has been marked by numerous challenges. He underwent a delicate open-heart surgery at Max Hospital in New Delhi, India, in March, made possible by the efforts of many Mauritians and the support of the OMCA foundation. After returning to Mauritius in May, Ezekiel has been receiving medical follow-up. According to his mother, Deborah, he is doing relatively well but has not been gaining weight. At almost one year old, Ezekiel weighs 5 kg.

Ezekiel's parents consulted with their pediatrician about their concerns regarding his weight gain. The doctor recommended Fortimel, a nutritional product. However, when they went to purchase it, the pharmacist informed them that it is generally not advised for babies of Ezekiel's age. The pediatrician reportedly reassured them based on his 15 years of experience. The product was purchased and administered to Ezekiel, but he started vomiting about an hour later.

Following Ezekiel's hospitalization from October 28 to 30, his mother reports that he appears weaker. The pediatrician explains that he had previously prescribed Fortimel to other children without issues and intended only to help Ezekiel gain weight. Another doctor consulted on the matter notes that Fortimel is typically not recommended for babies under a certain age but may be considered in specific situations.

Ezekiel's feeding difficulties and low weight gain remain concerning. His mother mentions that an intervention is planned at the ENT hospital, but the parents want to seek another medical opinion before making a decision. The OMCA foundation has recommended another doctor for consultation. Deborah Celidor-Fils expresses her distress, stating that no parent should have to go through such a situation.

Amidst these health concerns, the family is set to receive good news. They are scheduled to receive the keys to their new home, as announced by Housing Minister Shakeel Mohamed. This development represents a significant milestone and offers hope for a more stable living environment for Ezekiel. The family looks forward to celebrating Ezekiel's first birthday on November 8.

As Ezekiel approaches his first birthday, his parents reflect on the journey he has been on and the many people who have supported him. Their wish now is for Ezekiel to regain strength, grow well, and fully enjoy his childhood. The OMCA foundation continues to assist the family in navigating Ezekiel's medical needs and securing a suitable environment for his growth.
