As the end-of-year exams approach, the Arabic Speaking Union (ASU) and the Urdu Speaking Union (USU) in Mauritius are intensifying their support for students through educational resources and online revision sessions. The goal is to help students consolidate their knowledge, address their weaknesses, and avoid losing points on exercises they already master. Kalim Wahedally, President of the ASU, and Abidah Zainab Alladee, President of the USU, are leading the efforts to provide students with the necessary tools to excel in their exams.

The ASU is offering a series of targeted revision sheets in Arabic, specifically designed for Grade 9 students preparing for the National Certificate of Education (NCE). These sheets, available on the ASU's Facebook page, cover key areas such as grammatical recognition, transformations, vocabulary in context, and error correction. The ASU is also providing an interactive online platform where students can complete exercises and receive immediate feedback. According to Kalim Wahedally, the focus is on helping students master what they already know, rather than introducing new concepts.

The USU, on the other hand, is offering free online revision classes in Urdu for students at various levels, including the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC), NCE, Secondary Certificate (SC), and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC). These classes, which began in 2025, aim to help students address common challenges and improve their exam techniques. Abidah Zainab Alladee emphasized that the initiative has received positive feedback from students and parents, who appreciate the last-minute guidance and support.

Both the ASU and USU are focusing on helping students understand exam instructions and develop effective response strategies. According to Kalim Wahedally, common pitfalls include difficulties with grammatical transformations, agreements, and plurals, while Abidah Zainab Alladee highlighted the importance of vocabulary, written expression, and response structuring. The revision resources are designed to help students practice and reinforce their knowledge, rather than simply memorizing facts.

The ASU and USU are encouraging students to work regularly, identify their weaknesses, and seek help when needed. Kalim Wahedally reminded students that encountering difficulties during revision is an opportunity to learn and improve, rather than a reflection of their overall level. Abidah Zainab Alladee invited students and parents to take advantage of the free online revision classes, which are currently underway.

The ASU's revision sheets cover specific areas of the exam, including questions 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9, and provide students with a comprehensive program of work for the final days leading up to the exams. The USU's online revision classes, meanwhile, offer students the chance to connect with teachers and optimize their last-minute preparations, regardless of their location.

The Arabic and Urdu exams are scheduled to take place on October 13. With the support of the ASU and USU, students in Mauritius are well-equipped to tackle the challenges ahead and achieve success in their exams. The two organizations have demonstrated their commitment to helping students overcome common obstacles and reach their full potential.
