Mauritania and France have signed two financing agreements totaling €25 million to bolster the country's vocational training and civil protection sectors. The agreements were signed in Nouakchott on Monday by Mauritanian ministers and French diplomats. The funding will be used to support the development of vocational training and civil protection infrastructure in the country. The agreements mark a significant step in the cooperation between Mauritania and France.

The financing package includes a €21 million loan from the French Development Agency to support a project aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Mauritania's civil protection sector. The project, which has a total cost of €39.3 million, also receives support from the European Union and the Mauritanian government. The funding will be used to establish a national civil protection school, build and equip 10 new centers, and create a network of civil protection volunteers.

In addition to the loan, a €4 million agreement was signed to establish a model vocational training institute specialized in refrigeration, electricity, welding, and carpentry. The three-year project will be implemented by a French experience agency. The institute aims to provide vocational training to Mauritanian youth and enhance their employability. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economic development.

The agreements were signed by Mauritanian ministers, including Minister of Economic Affairs and Development Mohamedou Ahmidou Amhimid, Minister of Interior Moukhtar Ahmed Bousif, and Minister of Vocational Training and Traditional Industry Mohamed Moul El Aineine Ould Aye. French Ambassador to Mauritania Emmanuel Besni and Director of the French Development Agency in Nouakchott Inias Monkam Davirat also signed the agreements.

The country's authorities aim to enhance the capabilities of the civil protection sector and provide better services to the population. The vocational training institute will provide young Mauritanians with skills and knowledge to access the job market.

The implementation of the projects is expected to be carried out in close collaboration between the Mauritanian government and French development agencies. The projects will also involve the participation of local communities and stakeholders. The Mauritanian government has expressed its commitment to ensuring the success of the projects and to maximizing their impact on the country's development.
