The Kayes region in Mauritania has witnessed a remarkable surge in gasoline stocks, with a 129.61% increase to 1,752,824 liters, according to the regional trade director, Robo Bayo. This significant rise comes after a reported shortage in the previous week. The update was provided during the weekly meeting of the Regional Hydrocarbon Crisis and Disaster Management Committee, which was attended by representatives from various services, including the regional trade department and security forces.

The meeting, presided over by Colonel Adama Bamba, the Governor's security and civil protection advisor, aimed to assess the region's hydrocarbon supply situation. Bayo informed the gathering that hydrocarbon prices had remained stable overall. However, he noted a decline in diesel stocks, which stood at 1,083,850 liters, down from 1,704,304 liters the previous week, representing a 36.41% decrease.

Despite the decline in diesel stocks, Bayo assured the committee that the available supplies at service stations would suffice to meet consumer demands for an extended period. He attributed this to the fact that current stock levels are well above alert thresholds for both gasoline and diesel. The committee's discussions focused on ensuring a stable supply of hydrocarbons in the region.

Colonel Adama Bamba commended the regional trade department for its efforts in maintaining a stable hydrocarbon supply and encouraged continued collaboration with stakeholders. He also acknowledged the unwavering commitment of defense and security forces in escorting tanker convoys, which has contributed to the region's steady supply.

The Regional Hydrocarbon Crisis and Disaster Management Committee meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from the regional trade department, consumer association, and security agencies. Notably, the customs representative was absent due to unforeseen circumstances. The committee's collective efforts aim to address hydrocarbon-related challenges in the Kayes region.

According to Bayo, the significant increase in gasoline stocks is a welcome development, alleviating concerns over potential shortages. The region's authorities have been working to ensure a stable supply of hydrocarbons, and the latest data suggests that their efforts are yielding positive results.

The Kayes region's hydrocarbon supply situation is closely monitored by local authorities, who are committed to addressing any emerging challenges. With gasoline stocks at 1,752,824 liters and diesel stocks at 1,083,850 liters, the region appears to be well-positioned to meet its energy needs in the short term.
