Mauritania's diaspora communities, particularly those residing in Saudi Arabia, face significant challenges in accessing education and employment opportunities. Many struggle to acquire necessary qualifications, leading to unemployment and underutilization of their potential. In response, a new initiative aims to provide a national digital and professional qualification platform to support these communities.

The initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by Mauritanian diaspora communities, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where many struggle to access education and employment opportunities. The platform will provide a comprehensive learning system, allowing users to acquire skills and qualifications in various fields, including languages, programming, and administrative sciences.

The proposed platform will utilize a range of tools and technologies, including self-paced learning, e-learning, and artificial intelligence-powered support. This will enable users to learn at their own pace, access interactive lessons, and receive personalized support. The platform will also offer certification programs, allowing users to demonstrate their skills and qualifications to potential employers.

The initiative draws inspiration from successful international models, such as Saudi Arabia's "Darb" platform, which provides e-training and development programs for national human resources. Other examples include the Kiron education initiative, which uses technology to provide refugees and disadvantaged youth with access to technical skills training.

The target audience for the initiative includes job seekers, individuals looking to develop their skills, and those who have not had the opportunity to complete their education. The platform will also cater to Mauritanians living abroad, particularly those who have faced challenges in accessing education and employment opportunities due to their circumstances.

The initiative is set to be launched in conjunction with the Mauritanian Diaspora Forum, which will take place in Nouakchott from October 29-31, 2026. The forum will bring together members of the diaspora community to discuss issues related to education, employment, and youth development.

The initiative aims to complement existing national efforts to promote digital transformation and develop public services. By providing a platform for digital and professional qualification, the initiative seeks to empower Mauritanians, particularly those in vulnerable communities, to access better job opportunities and contribute to the country's economic growth.
