Detectives in Githurai, Kiambu county, are investigating the killing of an unidentified middle-aged man who was stabbed during a confrontation over a mobile phone. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at about 12:30 am near Eriwa Medical Centre in Githurai Subcounty. According to the owner of the medical centre, two men were seen walking beside the facility while quarrelling before they started fighting.

Police said one of the men, who was demanding a mobile phone from the other, allegedly drew a knife and stabbed his counterpart in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained severe injuries and bled to death. Officers who responded to the incident found the body of the unidentified man lying outside the medical centre with a deep stab wound to the abdomen.

A Redmi mobile phone was recovered at the scene and taken as an exhibit. The suspected murder weapon was not found. Police processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi City County Funeral Home. The body is being preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police have launched efforts to trace and arrest the suspect. The incident is part of a series of violent events that occurred in different parts of the country on the same day. In Taita Taveta county, police arrested four suspects in connection with the death of a 38-year-old man who was found bleeding outside a building in Mwatate.

Fredrick Masholi Saguli was discovered at about 2 am on Saturday, October 3, 2026, outside a building. According to police, a man found Saguli bleeding and raised the alarm. The injured man was placed on a motorcycle and rushed towards Mwatate Sub-County Hospital for treatment. However, the motorcycle reportedly ran out of fuel at Ziwa before reaching the hospital.

Saguli was subsequently found unresponsive and was laid down as the area assistant chief was contacted for assistance. Police officers from Mwatate Police Station, accompanied by scene-of-crime personnel from Voi, visited and processed the scene. Preliminary examination showed that Saguli had a cut on his right hand, a head injury suspected to have been inflicted with a blunt object and bruises on his back.

In another incident, a five-year-old girl died after a fire razed a house in Konyango Village, Nyatike, Migori county. Police officers visited the scene and found the body of the child, lying on a mat. According to her parents, she was a PP1 pupil at Kabutu Comprehensive School and had been sleeping alone in the kitchen, where she normally spent the night.
