In a significant move to improve healthcare services in Mali, the Transition President, General Assimi Goïta, has equipped three community health centers in Bamako with solar kits. The centers, located in Bakaribougou, Bozola, and Hamdallaye, now have a reliable source of electricity, enabling them to provide uninterrupted care to patients. The installation ceremony took place on October 29, with Commissioner-Colonel Cheick Mamadou Chérif Tounkara, Director Administrative and Financial (DAF) of the Presidency of the Republic, in attendance.

The solar kits, comprising panels, batteries, inverters, and accessories, were installed to reduce the dependence of these health centers on conventional energy sources. This initiative aims to ensure a consistent supply of electricity, which is crucial for providing quality healthcare services. The beneficiaries have expressed their satisfaction with the new installations, citing the difficulties they previously faced due to inadequate electricity.

Diala Diallo, a midwife at the Bakaribougou health center, highlighted the challenges they faced before the installation of the solar kits. She mentioned that during childbirth, the staff had to rely on torchlights and phone lights, which was inadequate. With the new solar-powered system, these challenges are now a thing of the past. Similarly, Wahab Touré, president of the Bozola health center, expressed relief that the center is no longer burdened with electricity costs.

The solar installation project was carried out by Malian personnel, emphasizing the country's capacity to execute such initiatives. Commissioner-Colonel Cheick Mamadou Chérif Tounkara encouraged the users to take good care of the installations, ensuring their longevity and paving the way for future projects. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare services and energy autonomy in Mali.

The health centers' administrators have welcomed the initiative, with Dr. Diakaridjia Koné, the chief physician at the Hamdallaye health center, expressing hope that such projects will be extended to other health centers. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the equipment and ensuring efficient patient care. The project is a testament to the government's commitment to improving healthcare services and reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

The solar kits were provided as part of the social works initiative, aiming to support community health centers across the country. With this project, the Transition President's administration has demonstrated its dedication to enhancing healthcare services and promoting sustainable energy solutions in Mali.
