The Fédération Malienne de Hippisme et Sports Équestres (FMHSE) has announced that its presidential election will proceed to a second round after a tie between the two candidates, Mohamed Haïdara and Sékou Djigué. The first round of the elective general assembly took place on October 3, with 12 voting delegates, each representing one of the 13 leagues affiliated with FMHSE, casting their ballots. The election resulted in a perfect tie, with each candidate securing 6 votes.
The assembly was attended by several notable figures, including Mamadou Sidibé, representative of the Direction Nationale des Sports et de l'Éducation Physique (DNSEP); Maître Adama Mariko, vice-president of the Comité National Olympique et Sportif du Mali (CNOS-Mali); and Mme Dienta Ilham Ait Addi, honorary president of FMHSE. Before the voting, the general secretary, Affo Samba Koné, presented the previous year's report, highlighting FMHSE's participation in several international events, including the Grand Prix de la Nation 2026 in Mali, the Grand Prix de la Renaissance 2026 in Senegal, and the Grand Prix d'Afrique 2026 in Morocco.

The financial reports were approved by the leagues. However, the voting process encountered an issue when two delegates from the Ligue de Trounkoumbé presented themselves, prompting the electoral commission to invalidate their vote.
The commission, led by Souleymane Makamba Doumbia, decided to set aside the disputed vote to avoid conflict. According to Doumbia, a similar situation occurred during the previous assembly four years ago with the league of Nara. The second round of the election is scheduled for October 17, as stipulated in Article 47 of FMHSE's regulations, which states that if no candidate achieves an absolute majority in the first round, a second round is held within 15 days between the top two candidates.
