The Malian government has initiated a new phase in its refoundation efforts, marking a significant shift from vision to action nearly five years after the historic National Assemblies of Refoundation. On September 24, 2026, the government, led by Prime Minister General of Division Abdoulaye Maïga, officially launched a set of large-scale initiatives aimed at fostering national development.

The launch event, attended by various government members, traditional and religious authorities, and national stakeholders, signifies the beginning of three fundamental projects. These projects focus on civic engagement, protection of vulnerable populations, and social cohesion, aligning with the priorities set by the National Refoundation vision, also known as "Mali Kura."

The first project aims to promote civic engagement by encouraging citizen participation in the democratic process. The strategy involves spreading patriotism and civic awareness across villages, neighborhoods, and schools nationwide. By emphasizing Mali's cultural and historical values, the initiative seeks to empower individuals to become active, responsible citizens contributing to national recovery efforts.

The second project tackles the issue of child begging, a deep-seated concern in Malian society. The government has begun implementing a national strategy to combat this phenomenon, emphasizing that the streets should not be a predetermined fate for Malian youth. The approach focuses on providing support to families, structuring the role of Islamic teachers, and ensuring access to education and dignity for every child.

The third project focuses on promoting peace and social cohesion. In response to the spread of irresponsible speech on social media and in public spaces, the Prime Minister called for a collective sense of responsibility. A newly established reflection committee will work to harmonize practices, regulate preaching, and prevent violent extremism, reaffirming the diversity of beliefs as a source of unity and tolerance.

The initiatives were launched in the presence of several government officials, including State Minister for Reconciliation, Peace, and National Cohesion, General of Army Corps Ismaël Wagué, and State Minister for Economy and Finance, Alousséni Sanou. The projects signify a renewed commitment to Mali's refoundation and development.

The government's efforts aim to address pressing social issues and foster a sense of national unity and purpose. By engaging citizens, protecting vulnerable populations, and promoting social cohesion, the initiatives strive to create a more equitable and peaceful society in Mali.
