The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have launched a series of operations against terrorist groups in the center and east of the country. According to a security source, the operations aim to strengthen security for local populations, ensure free movement of people and goods, secure borders, and disrupt the criminal economy developed by armed terrorist groups. The operations involve aerial and ground forces.

On October 6, FAMa conducted operations in the Kidal, In-Tassik, Tin-Assalak, and Abéïbara sectors, resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of vehicles and logistical depots belonging to terrorist groups. The military command reported that the operations are ongoing, with a focus on surveillance, reconnaissance, and research to assess the impact of the actions taken and identify any remaining threats.

In the center of the country, several terrorist gathering points were identified, targeted, and treated with precision in the Tombouctou and Sofara sectors. The military hierarchy indicated that operations are continuing in the affected sectors to evaluate the effects of the actions taken and to search for and neutralize any residual threats.

The operations are part of the Dougoukoloko operation, which aims to strengthen and consolidate FAMa's presence in the Kidal region. The Malian government has reported that FAMa, supported by Russian partners, is making progress in the region. On October 6, FAMa units consolidated their position in Kidal, the capital of the 8th administrative region of Mali.

In a related development, the governor of the Ségou region, Chiaka Magassa, has issued an order prohibiting navigation on the Niger River from 6 pm to 7 am. The measure affects crossing, fishing, sand exploitation, and transportation along the entire length of the river in the region.

The Malian government has also reported that FAMa, supported by partners, conducted precision strikes against terrorist positions on October 3, 40 kilometers south of Koutiala, destroying war material and armored vehicles. The operations are part of the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

The situation in Mali remains volatile, with terrorist groups posing a significant threat to security and stability. The government's efforts to strengthen FAMa's presence and conduct operations against terrorist groups are seen as crucial to restoring peace and security in the country.
