The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing communication between Libyan and Greek institutions to develop bilateral relations.
Al-Aqouri highlighted the significance of Greece's role during the upcoming period, given its membership in the UN Security Council and its upcoming presidency of the European Union. He also appreciated Greece's supportive stance on Libya and called for cooperation on the issue of frozen Libyan funds abroad.
The meeting also addressed the issue of irregular migration, with both sides stressing the need for enhanced coordination and information exchange to tackle the challenges posed by migrant flows across the Mediterranean. The Greek side expressed its commitment to continuing cooperation with Libya on this issue, including support for training programs and improving the capabilities of Libyan coast guard personnel.
The Libyan and Greek officials also explored opportunities for economic cooperation, with the Greek side expressing interest in expanding the activities of Greek companies in Libya. The Libyan delegation encouraged Greek companies to implement new projects and programs that would enhance economic partnership between the two countries.
The talks also covered areas of cooperation in health, education, and training, as well as academic and scientific collaboration between institutions in both countries. The delegation discussed existing cooperation between the University of Benghazi and several Greek universities, emphasizing the need to develop and expand exchanges of expertise and knowledge.
The two sides agreed on the importance of continued coordination between the Libyan Foreign Affairs Committee and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as enhancing parliamentary diplomacy to open up broader avenues for cooperation in various fields.
