Libyan House of Representatives Speaker, Saleh Abd al-Nabi, recently visited the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund in Sebha, where he reviewed ongoing and planned development and service projects in the city and across the southern region. He emphasized the importance of including necessary financial allocations for the completion of reconstruction projects in the 2027 budget. The visit was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Duma, and the Libyan Minister of Investment, Ali al-Saidi.

During the meeting, Abd al-Nabi was presented with a visual overview of completed, ongoing, and planned projects in Sebha and other southern cities and regions. The projects encompass various sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The Speaker highlighted his field tour of several project sites in Sebha, noting the city's progress in development and services, such as the Al-Mushir Mosque, which can accommodate 5,000 worshippers.

Abd al-Nabi also discussed the university complex, which comprises 22 colleges, the crossing bridge, Sebha airport, and the medical center, in addition to infrastructure maintenance projects. He noted that these projects address some of the region's basic service needs. In the healthcare sector, he mentioned the previous shortcomings of the medical center and the improvements in services with the implementation of new projects.

The Speaker stressed that development projects should not be limited to Sebha but should extend to other cities, villages, and rural areas in the Fezzan region. This would ensure that citizens in the southern region have access to services in their areas of residence, particularly given the long distances they would otherwise have to travel to reach coastal cities for medical care and essential services.

Abd al-Nabi called on officials and employees in the developed facilities to maintain and protect the completed projects from damage, as they are service assets that require continuous operation and utilization. He emphasized that completing reconstruction projects requires making necessary decisions and providing financial allocations, and that efforts are underway to approve the required funds for southern projects within the upcoming 2027 budget.

The Speaker announced that preparations for the 2027 budget will begin immediately, with a clear vision for the required projects and financial needs. This aims to support the continuity of development work in the region. He also linked the holding of the House of Representatives session in Sebha to supporting the Fezzan region and its people, emphasizing that the Council represents all Libyans.

Abd al-Nabi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund and the National Development Agency in implementing projects according to specified timelines. He looked forward to launching a new phase of development projects in various southern regions.
