Libya is set to experience a temporary reprieve from unstable weather conditions, with today, October 29, 2026, expected to be relatively calm across most parts of the country. However, this respite will be short-lived as weather conditions are predicted to deteriorate starting from tomorrow evening. The National Meteorological Centre has warned of increased cloud cover in the northwestern regions, which may lead to rain and thunderstorms.

The regions of Ras Ajdir to Sirte and the Jebel Gharbi and Jefara plains are expected to have clear skies today, with cloud cover increasing tomorrow evening, particularly in areas from Nalut and Gharyan to Tripoli and Trarouna. This increase in cloud cover may lead to scattered thunderstorms and rain showers, which could be heavy in some areas, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and potential flash flooding.

Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution as the rain may be accompanied by strong winds, which are expected to shift to a northwesterly direction by Saturday. Daytime temperatures, which currently range between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius, are also expected to drop. In the coastal regions of Tripoli and Sirte, as well as the interior, cloud cover will increase, bringing a chance of rain.

In the eastern regions, including the Gulf of Sirte, Benghazi, and areas up to Ajdabiya, light to moderate rain is expected today in the Green Mountain areas. However, the chances of rain are expected to increase starting from Saturday, spreading to the Gulf of Sirte, Benghazi, and other eastern regions. Residents in these areas can expect moderate northwesterly winds and daytime temperatures ranging from 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.

In the southern regions, including Jufra, Sabha, Ghat, Ghadames, and the Hamada areas, clear to partly cloudy skies are expected today, with increased cloud cover and scattered rain showers predicted for Ghadames and the Hamada areas tomorrow. Daytime temperatures in these regions will range from 27 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, areas such as the oases, the Sarir region, Tazirbu, and Kufra are expected to remain clear, with winds picking up on Saturday, leading to increased dust and sand in the air. The National Meteorological Centre has advised residents to take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flash flooding.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates that the chances of rain will persist in the northern regions until mid-next week. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and warnings. The situation may change, and it is crucial for residents to be prepared for any further developments.
