The St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association recently held a grand reception in Lagos to celebrate distinguished old boys of the institution, where IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Disu received the award for his distinguished career in public service and leadership, marking over three decades of service to the Nigeria Police Force. The event also recognised other notable individuals, including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Olayemi Cardoso.
IGP Disu’s career in the Nigeria Police Force spans over 30 years, with various operational and leadership positions, including Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad and Commissioner of Police. He joined the force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992 and has since completed his secondary education at St. Gregory’s College in 1985. His professional achievements in frontline policing, criminal investigation, intelligence operations, and international peacekeeping were highlighted during the event.
The Lifetime Achievement Award also acknowledged Disu’s emphasis on key policing aspects, including professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnership, and the responsible deployment of technology to strengthen public safety.
