The Lagos state chapter of ISACA, an international organisation of professionals in information technology, governance, assurance, risk management, and privacy, recently celebrated its 2026 Community Day. According to Justus Osuji, Lagos chapter President of ISACA, the Community Day event is celebrated worldwide by ISACA members every October as part of activities for the global Cyber Security Awareness month. The event aims to create awareness about cyber security, cyber hygiene, data protection, and other aspects of technology that people need to be aware of. Osuji emphasised the importance of enlightening the public on effective use of technology to avoid harm.
During the event, ISACA Lagos chapter donated sanitary tools to the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) and the Ikeja Computer Village division of the Lagos State Market Board. The donations included 30 pieces of coverall and seven cones, which were received by Emmanuella Omootemi, LAWMA Area Manager. The items are expected to support the operations of LAWMA sweepers.
Omootemi expressed appreciation to the Lagos ISACA team for the donations, noting that such contributions are essential for the well-being of sweepers. She mentioned that many sweepers have worn-out or torn uniforms, and donations from organisations like ISACA help to improve their working conditions. The LAWMA Area Manager acknowledged the significance of the donations in promoting a healthier environment.
