Kleartech Solutions, a company based in Lusaka, Zambia, is currently seeking a practical and customer-focused L1 IT Support Technician to provide first-line technical support to their team and clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting computers, supporting business applications, resolving common network issues, and managing routine user-account requests. The L1 IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing technical support through phone, email, remote access, and onsite visits. They will diagnose and resolve common laptop, desktop, software, and peripheral issues, as well as install and configure Windows, approved applications, printers, and other equipment. Additionally, they will assist users with email, Microsoft Office, Teams, and everyday IT questions. The role will also involve supporting Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out approved account creation, password resets, access changes, and account removal. They will also assist with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID user administration and help users set up and troubleshoot multifactor authentication. Furthermore, they will troubleshoot internet, Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN, and shared-printer connectivity, investigate basic TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP issues, and assist with approved setup and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless access points.
The L1 IT Support Technician will also perform routine system checks and respond to monitoring alerts using documented procedures. They will assist with endpoint updates, antivirus checks, and scheduled maintenance, check backup status, and report failures. The role will also involve providing first-line support for business applications, gathering error messages and relevant details before escalation, and assisting senior engineers with Windows Server, Linux, and cloud support tasks.
To qualify for the role, candidates should have a diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. They should also have at least 1-3 years of hands-on IT support experience, good working knowledge of Windows computers, hardware troubleshooting, and software installation. Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and common office applications, as well as understanding of networking fundamentals, is also required.
The ideal candidate will have experience using ticketing systems and remote support tools, clear spoken and written English, strong customer service, and accurate documentation. They should be able to troubleshoot methodically, manage priorities, and recognize when escalation is required.
