Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on the opposition to shift its focus from name-calling and insults to developing policies and proposals that can improve the lives of Kenyans. Speaking in Juja Constituency, Kiambu county, Kindiki argued that the opposition's approach was not yielding meaningful results for the country. He emphasized that adults should engage in serious discussions about issues affecting citizens, rather than resorting to petty insults.
Kindiki made these remarks while inspecting development projects and launching the construction of the Kimbo-Matangini Road in Juja Constituency. He was accompanied by local leaders and officials. The project is one of several infrastructure initiatives underway in the area, including the Ndarugu-Nyacaba-Kimuchu and Juja-Juja Farm-Kwa Murage-Munyu-Komo roads. Kindiki directed the contractor to begin work on the Kimbo-Matangini Road immediately.
The Deputy President expressed confidence that the government's development agenda would not be derailed by opposition criticism. He stated that his focus was on working hard and delivering on the government's commitments. Kindiki's role, he emphasized, included addressing challenges that could delay projects and ensuring that development work continued at the required pace.
Kindiki highlighted the importance of Kiambu county, citing its large population and strong economy. He stressed that the government was working with local leaders to expand infrastructure and improve services in the county. The goal, he said, was to build enough roads to support economic growth and serve the people.
The government has prioritized 1,656 kilometres of roads for tarmacking in Kiambu County at a cost of Sh152 billion. Additionally, the county has been allocated Sh53 billion for 29 modern markets, with two more markets planned. Kindiki emphasized that the government was committed to delivering on its development commitments in Kiambu and Juja.
Kindiki's visit to Juja Constituency was part of his efforts to engage with local leaders and communities. He reiterated his commitment to supporting President William Ruto in advancing Kenya's development agenda. The Deputy President emphasized that his focus was on addressing emerging challenges and clearing hurdles to accelerate development work.
The opposition's criticism of the government, Kindiki said, would not distract it from its goals. He urged the opposition to focus on developing policies and proposals that could benefit Kenyans, rather than engaging in name-calling and insults. The government's development agenda, he emphasized, would continue to move forward, with or without opposition criticism.
