The government of Kenya is fast-tracking the completion of 1,656 kilometres of road projects in Kiambu County. The projects, which are at various stages of implementation, aim to improve connectivity and boost economic activity, particularly in rural areas. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki made the remarks while inspecting development projects in Kiambaa and Gatundu South constituencies. He emphasized that the roads are crucial for improving local economies, especially in rural areas, by enabling farmers to transport their produce to markets on time.

The road programme includes hundreds of kilometres of Mau Mau Roads passing through several constituencies in Kiambu County. Kindiki stated that he would closely monitor the road works to ensure faster completion. The Deputy President also revealed that plans to construct the Thika-Nairobi Expressway are at an advanced stage. The project is currently undergoing final design and feasibility studies to provide an alternative route and ease congestion on the existing Thika Superhighway.

During his tour, Kindiki inspected the ongoing construction of the Wangui-Mundoro-Gaitete Road in Gatundu South. He also addressed residents at Mundoro Shopping Centre and inspected construction works at Karuri Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Kiambaa Constituency. The KMTC project is being undertaken at a cost of Ksh.200 million, with an additional Ksh.290 million allocated for student hostels. Kindiki engaged residents in Banana town, outlining ongoing development projects in the area.

In Kiambaa, the government has constructed several roads, including the Banana-Ndenderu, Banana-Ruaka, Nduota-Gathanga-Kigwaru, and Banana-Raini-Karuri High School Junction roads. The Karura-Gachie-Gacharage Road is nearing completion. Kindiki announced that a contractor had been secured for the Kimachia-Northern Power Road, while the contract for the Gatuekira-GD-Njuru-Kigwaru Junction Road had been awarded and works commenced. The Roseline-Total Ruaka-Kituamba-Ndenderu Road is also among the projects being undertaken.

Kindiki assured residents that the government has the funds to build and complete these roads, having prioritized their construction. He also mentioned that 29 modern markets are under construction in Kiambu, with two additional markets set to commence construction. Several affordable housing projects and student hostels across the county's constituencies are nearing completion. The Deputy President emphasized the government's commitment to building the country step by step, project by project, kilometre by kilometre.

Kindiki warned against the sale and manufacture of illicit alcohol in the region, urging residents to support government measures aimed at curbing the trade. He emphasized that the government will not tolerate those who manufacture alcohol and add chemicals that harm the health of young people. The Deputy President was accompanied by several leaders, including Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku, Kabete MP Githua Wamacukuru, and Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha.
