The Friends of Issah Mohammed Bataglia, Member of Parliament for Sissala East, have made a significant donation to the Tumu Municipal Hospital in Ghana's Upper West Region. On October 7, 2026, the group handed over a modern delivery bed to support maternal healthcare delivery in the area. This act of kindness aims to improve the conditions under which expectant mothers receive care at the hospital. The donation was part of an engagement with the hospital, during which the group inspected various units of the facility.

During their inspection, the team observed that expectant mothers in the delivery room lacked adequate privacy. This concern was brought to the attention of hospital authorities, prompting the group to commit to providing funds to address the issue. The modern delivery bed, received by the Head of Pharmacy, Mr. Pham Johnson, is expected to enhance delivery services at the facility. The group expressed their commitment to supporting healthcare in the region.

Mr. Pham Johnson, on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude to the donors for their intervention. He assured them that the equipment would be properly maintained and put to good use. However, he also appealed for further support to address the hospital's needs, particularly in establishing a children's ward and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The hospital also requires assistance with providing a phototherapy machine and an X-ray machine.

In addition to the hospital donation, the Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS) has extended educational support to schools in the Sissala East Municipality. Three schools in Banu, Bassisan, and Pina benefited from the scheme. The donations included educational resources such as desks, textbooks, learning materials, exercise books, pens, and mathematical sets. These interventions aim to support teaching and learning in the beneficiary communities.

At Banu, the scheme donated 94 dual desks and various educational resources. The Bassisan School received textbooks, kindergarten books, and other learning materials. Pina received two sets of New Curriculum textbooks, exercise books, and mathematical sets. The materials were handed over to representatives of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who facilitated their presentation to the respective schools and communities.

The educational support provided by BESS seeks to improve access to basic educational resources in the beneficiary communities. By donating essential educational materials, the scheme aims to enhance the learning environment and promote academic excellence. This initiative is part of the group's efforts to contribute to the development of the Sissala East Municipality.

The Friends of Bataglia and BESS continue to demonstrate their commitment to supporting healthcare and education in the region. Their efforts aim to address some of the challenges faced by the Tumu Municipal Hospital and schools in the Sissala East Municipality. The impact of these donations will be closely watched as the community benefits from the improved healthcare and educational facilities.
