Kenyans living abroad can now apply for certificates of good conduct through the e-Citizen platform. According to Principal Criminal Registrar W.N. Kirai, applicants should first log into their e-Citizen accounts and make an application before proceeding with fingerprint capture at a Kenyan embassy, High Commission, or consulate. This new process allows Kenyans abroad to easily obtain the necessary documents.
The application process involves making payments, downloading application forms, and presenting themselves at the relevant embassy or consulate for fingerprint capture. The fingerprints are then submitted to Kenya through diplomatic channels and received by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for analysis. After analysis, the certificate is generated online through the e-Citizen platform. This streamlined process aims to simplify the application process for Kenyans living abroad.
Foreigners who previously lived in Kenya but are now residing outside the country can also apply for good conduct certificates. They must provide relevant documents showing their immigration status in Kenya, such as a work permit or student pass. These applicants must create an e-Citizen account, upload their immigration documents, and wait for approval before making payment and downloading application forms.
Once the application is approved, applicants are required to present the forms at a Kenyan embassy, High Commission, or consulate for fingerprint capture. The fingerprints are subsequently submitted to Kenya through diplomatic channels and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Upon receiving the fingerprints, DCI conducts the analysis and generates the certificate online, with applicable remarks for each applicant.
Kirai also noted that foreigners currently in Kenya can apply for good conduct certificates through the same system. Applicants in Kenya are required to upload valid documentation to their e-Citizen accounts and wait for approval before making payment. After payment, they can present themselves at a Huduma Centre in Kenya for fingerprint capture.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is also offering the service at the Nairobi International Trade Fair at Jamhuri Grounds. Kirai stated that DCI is issuing services to all applicants, irrespective of nationality. The newly launched multi-biometric identification system is being used to capture fingerprints and generate police clearance certificates online.
The introduction of the e-Citizen platform and multi-biometric identification system aims to improve the efficiency and accessibility of good conduct certificate applications. With this new process, Kenyans abroad and foreigners who lived in Kenya can easily apply for and obtain the necessary documents.
