A Kenyan man, Eugene Shiare Katta, has shared a private Instagram conversation he had with Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, just before Chivayo's death. Katta, an upcoming fintech entrepreneur, had reached out to Chivayo seeking guidance on a fintech concept he was developing. Chivayo responded warmly, inviting Katta to meet him anywhere in the world their schedules aligned. The conversation has been shared on Facebook, with Katta expressing grief over the loss of a man he had deeply admired.

According to Katta, he first contacted Chivayo on January 14, introducing himself as a young Kenyan creative and director of a fintech company. He requested a brief meeting with Chivayo or his team to seek early guidance on his fintech concept. Katta wrote that he had been in Harare the previous week and understood how difficult it was to secure time with the businessman. He expressed his admiration for Chivayo's leadership in business and youth empowerment across Africa.

Chivayo's response to Katta was warm and encouraging, acknowledging him by name and asking about Kenya. Chivayo noted that he was a frequent visitor to the country and offered to meet Katta in Harare or anywhere in the world they found themselves in the same location. He shared his WhatsApp contact and wished Katta good luck. The two had reportedly been in further contact since that initial exchange, with Katta disclosing that they had arranged to meet in Dubai in November.

The meeting between Katta and Chivayo will never take place, as Chivayo allegedly died in a helicopter crash. Katta shared the conversation on Facebook on October 1, expressing grief over the loss of a man he had only recently connected with but had deeply admired. In his post, Katta wrote that he was looking forward to their meeting in Dubai this November and that their last conversation will forever remain special.

Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has addressed questions over why he did not foresee the helicopter crash that killed Chivayo and his wife Lucy Muteke. Makandiwa revealed that he had dined with the couple just five days before their deaths on September 30, 2026. He stated that he does not see everything and that only God has complete knowledge of future events.

Makandiwa described Chivayo and his wife as people who were eager to give and help others, saying they had “saved the best for last.” The news of Chivayo's death has sparked reactions online, with many mourning the loss of the Zimbabwean businessman. Katta's Facebook post quickly drew attention online, collecting 275 likes and 57 comments within a day of being shared.

For Katta, the brief connection with Chivayo clearly carried significant weight, representing not just a potential business opportunity but what he described as a genuinely special personal bond formed in a short time. The story highlights the impact of Chivayo's life and legacy, even on those who had only recently connected with him.
